Dr. Katy Griffin - DVM, FFCP
Dr. Griffin is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She achieved a bachelor's degree and doctorate in veterinary medicine while attending Auburn University. After graduating, she moved to Clearwater and has spent her entire career in the Pinellas and Pasco County areas.
Since obtaining Sunshine Animal Hospital in 2021, Dr. Griffin has strived to improve the quality of care and service provided. As a fear free certified veterinarian, her mission is to decrease as much fear and anxiety as possible in every single patient that steps through the doors.
Her veterinary interests include dermatology, pain management, and metabolic diseases, such as Diabetes.
Dr. Javier Vicente - DVM, FFCP
Dr. Vicente was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He graduated from Auburn University and has been practicing medicine since 1992.
In 1997 he bought an animal hospital in Saint Petersburg Fl and grew a large following of loyal clients with his genuine compassion and caring bedside manner. He joined Sunshine Animal Hospital in 2022.
Dr. Vicente is Fear Free certified and has a special interest in dermatology. He shares his home with 2 French Bulldogs and 2 cats.
Megan Sawyer, DVM, MS, Practice Limited to Surgery
Dr. Megan Sawyer was born and raised near Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Veterinary Medical School at Michigan State University in 2009. Megan completed an emergency, medical, and surgical internship at VCA VREC Norwalk/Shoreline in Norwalk, CT, a surgical internship at Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center in Las Vegas, NV, and a surgical residency at MedVet Medical and Cancer Centers for Pets in Columbus, OH. . She enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 miniature dachshunds, competing in Cross-Fit, and living in Florida.
Dr. Wendy Watson, DVM
Dr. Wendy Watson brings more than 30 years of veterinary experience—and a lifelong love of animals—to Sunshine Animal Hospital. Originally from Marshall County, Kentucky, she earned her undergraduate degree at Murray State University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.
Before joining our team, Dr. Watson spent 10 years with Haines Road Animal Hospital, then owned and operated her own successful practice for two decades before selling it to a private equity group. She’s excited to be working alongside Dr. Griffin again and to continue caring for pets and the people who love them.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Watson serves on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Pinellas. She and her husband are happy empty nesters who share their home with two rescue dogs, Leroy and Bo, and when she’s not at work, she’s often planning their next big travel adventure.
Cat, CVT, BASVM, FFCP Practice Manager
Cat earned her veterinary technician degree and Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Management from Saint Petersburg college.
She has been working in the veterinary field for more than 25 years now. She is Fear Free certified and Cat Friendly Certified.
Her special interests include pathology and exotic animals. She loves all animals; furry, feathered, or scaly.
